Sorry it has been so quiet here, cleaning up after the Holidays took a little longer than I anticipated, but I have made a little minikit for you. It's my entry for the DSO Colour Challenge

These colors were a real challenge to me. Normally I design based on a photo or photos, but I had no photos needing these colors, but I did come up with some papers and elements.

With temperatures well above 30ºC, I'm staying indoors where there's airco.
The good thing about staying indoors is that I'm early finishing the Colour Challenge at DSO.

Hope everyone is enjoying summer, I know I am, temps are going up, sun is shining and I'm feeling better every day, enjoying life as it is and being thankful for all my blessings.

My computer time is still limited, I spend a lot of time outdoors, hiking and biking :) getting back in shape.
I also started working again, a few hours a day and I'll try to pick up school again in September.

Well, it's almost the end of June and I have finally completed my entry in this months DSO colour challenge
There are 8 papers and 8 elements, I hope you like it.

Here's the long-expected update, sorry it took so long but getting chemo really gets to you. I had my last chemo-treatment two weeks ago and now I'm trying to get myself back in shape again.

I also did some scrapping again and I even did some designing. As you all know I love the DSO Colour Challenge, so I started with these colors and I made a little kit.

Hi all ,
Well, it has been a while, so just a little update.
First I would really like to thank everyone for leaving so many get well wishes, prayers and other sweet comments, on my blog and my email. It really is so heartwarming, THANK YOU!!!.
I'm still getting chemo-treatments every three weeks until April, I have good days and bad days, but I'll make it. :)
I don't spend that much time on my computer, but I did make a little mini for the DSO-Colour Challenge, I love that challenge!!!♥
I used some older stuff and added some new, and named it ~Just Lovely~

Hi all, I'm really sorry about the lack of freebies here. I'll just give you a short update.
Early november I've been diagnozed with breastcancer and my life has been upside down ever since. Two weeks later I had major surgery to remove the cancer and now I'm undergoing chemotherapy. The chemo is just to prevent a relapse. The doctors are very possitive and so are we.
I will be back, you can count on that, but it will take me some time to recover, so please be patient.
For now I want to wish you all Happy Holidays and a good and HEALTY 2010.

I took some elements from this old kit and added some new elements, including a recipe card (I'm still working on my recipe book) you can use for your thanksgiving recipes. First I want to thank you all, very, very much for all the comments left in the past week.
It's really overwhelming and I love it!
I can't believe it has been a week since I last posted, time just goes by so fast.
Today I'm working from home so I have some time to blog.
There is just so much to do in so little time, work, study, family, friends and all the rest.

In order to get it all organised, I am, at the moment, working on a recipe scrapbook and thats todays freebie.
A lot of the meals I make are Italian, so I have a little Italian Recipe kit for you all, some papers, recipe cards and yummie ingredients.

Todays freebie is a little different, let me explain.

I stopped working outdoors a while back to help my DH run his office from home. (He's an architect)

Its a great job and I decided to get my masters-degree in architecture aswell, this will take me approx. 2 to 3 years.

The bad news(for you) is that I will have less time to scrap, however I will try to fit it in as much scrappingtime as possible to provide you with freebies and to scrap my own photo's. ;)

But I have come up with a plan. Everyday I receive emails from people that like my expired kits, therefore I thought it would be nice to place some of them back on line occasionally.

So todays kit is part of a kit I made in June 2008 for KimB's Colour Challenge at DSO, called Romantic Memories. Todays pw is: romantic

Any suggestions for kits you would like to see "revisited" please let me know and I'll see which kit is "most popular" and I'll get that online next time.

Cloud Nine Part3

Today I'm giving you the first part of the kit I'm working on, it is still growing, so there will be a second and maybe even a third part.....
This kit is made in the colorscheme we use for our anniversary in September and I named it Cloud Nine, because that's were we still are, after all these years :)

New Freebie!

Can you believe its August already!! July just flew by, extra fast, so it seems. (going on a vacation, makes time fly :) )
I didn't have time to do any of the July-challenges over at DSO but this month I will enter 1 or maybe even more challenges. My absolute favorite without any doubt is of course the Colour Challenge hosted by Ms. KimB, and she really picked a gorgeous swatch this month. But with the new designers at DSO also come new challenges and they really look like fun! Check it out

I made another freebie this weekend, as I was scrapping some pictures of the house my grandparents lived in.
Its was very old house (built around 1875) and they lived there until my GF passed away and my GM moved to a retirementhome in 1985. The colors I used reminded my of the interior of the house and so another mini-kit was born, named ~Granny's Den ~ Hope you can use it for your pictures.

We're back!

Hi all,

We're back from our vacation in Greece. We had a great relaxing time, the weather was great, sometimes a little to hot, but then we would stay in the shadow near the hotel pool.

We had a little scary moment, because there was a bush fire nearby, but it didn't come close enough to evacuate the hotel we stayed at.

The hotel had an internet connection on 1 computer for the guests to use, but it wasn't always working or others were using it, we just checked our emails once a week, so I answered some of my mails this morning, sorry about the delay.
I haven't designed much during our vacation :( but now that we're back I will get busy scrappin' :)
I do have a little freebie for you today, its the second part of the BB I made for our familyreunion. I started it before we went away and finished it this morning.

We are Family Brag Book

I'm still working on my album and the brag book off our annual Family reunion and I zipped up 6 bb-pages for you to download.

On wednesday we're going to Greece to spend our summer vacation, we will return on the July 29th.

I'm taking my laptop with me, but I'm not sure about the internet connection, so I don't know if I will be able to give you new freebies, we'll just have to wait and see.

Sneak peek

First of all.....I will be deleting the January 2009 freebies this weekend, probably on Sunday July 5, so if you want some of those freebies, get them before Sunday or they will be gone!!

These weeks are the most hectic weeks of the year for me. On Friday 3th July summer vacation starts here and that means my last teaching day in 21 years, and a LOT of extra work to get it all done before Friday.

I am working on something new tho. It will be a photoalbum and a bragbook with pictures made during a family reunion we had some time ago. The album and bragbook aren't ready yet but I almost have enough to turn it into a freebie-kit.

For some weeks now I get, almost daily, requests to put back download links of expired freebies. I'm sorry, but I can't do that. I don't have the space (nor the time) to do so. Well, I made it before midnight!!

It has been a busy week so far. All kinds of changes, but its so much fun to work from home.

Another change is my background and header, I used my Misty Morning kit, I just love these soft colors.

Todays freebie is a kit I made for a friends daughter, who had her first baby last year and will be having her first Mothersday on Sunday. Its called ~Innocence~ It comes in two parts, so be sure to grab both.

Most of the freebie kits I make are inspired by my own pictures(except the DSO Color Challenge)
Here's how I work. I start with the picture(s) I want to scrap then pick colors to match those pictures and make my layouts,I always design more then I need, so I turn that into a kit.
As I said in the opening line, I am working on a new kit, but it's not done yet, I have already made a few layouts in these colors and I turned one of them into a template and that is today's freebie, the kit will follow in a day or so, depending on the amount of time I have left.

Next on the agenda:
In the comments on the template post anonymous asked how to recolor the frames, well I don't know what software you use, I mostly work in pspx, in that you select the layer, select all, float, defloat and fill with color, gradient or pattern of your choise. I guess other software works about the same.

Now for the freebie part:
You all know how I love the DSO forum with all the great challenges and talented people, this month I have entered some more challenges, Color Challenge, Doodle's Dare, Template Challenge, Book of me and Scraplift Challenge and I had a great time, and you get the best posting gifties.
My funky color challenge entry was earlier this month, but these colors....well how shall I put it.....I just kept playing with these colors and so todays freebie is a mini-kit again in the DSO Color-Challenge Colors, but I toned them down a little bit, no Funky stuff but just ~Simply Soft~ Hope you like it, just let me know.

First I would like to thank you all again for all you comments, I do read them all, I even placed a "recent comments"- widget in the side-bar, so I don't miss a single one.
In one of the comments Jody asked for the template of the Paris-frontpage.
I have never made a template, but I will give it a go. It's always a challenge to try something new. I already checked out some templates and they are in PSD, that means working in Photoshop, I don't do that much, I usually open PSPx and work with that, I do have PScs3 on my computer, it will be a great opportunity to learn more about PS too :)

Paris

My weekend in Paris is over :( but it was GREAT!!!
We went by train and it's a little over 4 hours from Amsterdam, we stayed in a modern hotel in the 2nd arr. and after we checked in we started walking, sightseeing, shopping, went on the subway and did and saw as much as we could in those three days.
I could give you a detailed travel log, but we saw too much!!!
It would become a very long blog-entry and I'm not much of a talker/writer :)

I allready made the title-page of my Paris album, just to give you an impression of our weekend.

Shel made a great kit for her entry in the DSO color Challenge. It goes so well with my entry, just take a look at her Mimosa-kit, on her blog now for free. Just click on her preview to go to her blog.

If you go to the DSO Forum there are more goodies in these colors, you can also participated in a challenge, they have all kinds of challenges, its a great forum!!!

No freebies today :( but I have started another kit, so I'll be back in a day or so.
